What we do

Rockyview Veterinary Behaviour Consulting provides behaviour consultations to all species of animals. Common reasons for seeking the help of a Veterinary Behaviorist include aggression, anxiety, fears and phobias, elimination disorders and compulsive disorders to name a few. It may also include abnormal behaviour in groups of production animals or in labs, zoos or other facilities where animals are kept. You are welcome to contact us with any behavioural concerns you may have with animals in your care.

We offer in-clinic, mobile and online consultations in Calgary and surrounding areas. We cannot offer primary care services such as vaccines, however we can offer diagnostics such as blood work or radiographs if they may contribute to diagnosis of the behaviour problem and cannot be performed at your family veterinarian.

We love all species of animals - big, small, scales, feathers, hooves, paws, we work with them all.

what to expect

Before your appointment

You will receive an email detailing what to expect at your appointment and a link to a history form for you to provide details about your pet and their behaviour. We apologize for the length of the form, we really do, but it is important information for the Veterinary Behaviorist to have to help you and your pet. Please fill this out and submit it at least 48 hours prior to your appointment.

Blood work and physical exam within the previous 6 months is strongly recommended. For cats with elimination concerns a recent urinalysis is required.

The appointment

The initial appointment is approximately 60-90 minutes. Dr. Heinrich will review your pet’s history and provide a diagnosis and treatment plan consisting of management, behaviour modification, any pharmaceuticals or neutraceuticals that may benefit your pet, as well as recommendations for follow up care. No aversive training methods such as shock, prong or choke collars are used.

After the appointment

You will receive a summary of your pet’s diagnosis and treatment plan within 7 days of your appointment. Your family veterinarian will receive a copy of this as well.
